On Saturday 7 July, Cape Town Central Library will exhibit the work of Sihle Mpoyiya, a 19-year-old student and aspiring artist from Nyanga.

Mpoyiya is an illustrator who draws portraits of people to make extra money. Mpoyiya started drawing in primary school and has since become very passionate about the art.

“Art means everything to me. With art I can express my hidden emotions. When I’m drawing, it somehow feels like I’m taking a break from the real world. It’s the only thing I can confidently say I’m good at” Mpoyiya says.

According to Mpoyiya, his art has touched many people in the community. That and the support from Mpoyiya’s family is what motivate him.

The art work will be displayed for the entire month of July.
