Khayelitsha stand out DJ and producer is celebrating his second national award nomination after making it to the South African Music Awards this year.

Sanele Wili, known as DJ Mizz, has been nominated in the best remix category for his rendition of Bob Eezy’s Close To You.

But this is not his only celebration as he just found out this week that his song with Rabs Vhafhuwi titled Count Your Blessings has received more than a million views on Youtube.

This is a song that was released three years ago and became popular, thus catapulting the two music makers into the limelight.

Wili, chuffed by both successes, said that he was glad to see that his work was being recognised.

“Being nominated in two in big wards for the same song is no small thing, so I’m very excited and I’m hoping to do better in these awards.

I love that the hard work that is put in to make the music and the quality of the music is being noticed,” he said.

He said that Count Your Blessing was an important song for him as it was the first time he saw people loving his music.

“I was expecting this song because it was and still is a big song, everywhere I went people responded great to the song. One million views is a big thing for us,” he said.

Wili said he is working on more music including a remix for The Kings of the Weekend, Naves and Sphe.

“I’m also pushing my latest song titled: I’m Calling, which features Shota.

I also plan on putting my name to be more out there as I believe that I am not as recognised as I think I should be,” he said.

Wili is signed under Universal Music and last year released his first album called Never Stop Dreaming. Count Your Blessing and Kuze Kuse established made his presence felt.
