“God is good all the time”: these are the remarks from the upcoming gospel artist Bongie Jaza who was nominated for the Best Newcomer Award for her latest album Hlala nam Nkosi.

Jaza, from 38 section in Philippi, released her 11-song album last year in May.

“I was amazed by the response from the people. They love my music. It is my first album but I’m already nominated for the awards,” she said.

Jaza confessed that she didn’t expect the nomination so soon.

The mother of a five-year-old boy said she is still pushing herself before she makes another album.

“I love music. Every time I pray to God to give me more strength and be able to produce good music,” she said. Jaza said she started singing in 2010 at her home town at Dimbaza in King Williams Town, Eastern Cape.

“At that time I was singing in church. Then in 2012 I relocated to Cape Town and got married in 2013. I took a break because I had to convince my husband to allow me to fulfil my dream,” she said.

The 26-year-old artist said she came back to the industry in November 2017 where she joined Nkunja Records in Site B.

“I started making my album in December till April 2018. I released it in May and immediately I had to promote it on local radio stations, performing at taxi rank, weddings and funerals,” she stated.

Jaza said her album costs R70 per copy. For bookings contact her on 083 239 1414 or Whatsapp her on 064 367 0298.
