Eluxolweni Primary School are the current champions in the senior’s division of the Girls School Soccer Festival organised by Ikasi Soccer School, which was held at Kukhanyile Primary School in Site B, last Friday.

Kukhanyile, Lwandle, Eluxolweni and Hopolang primary schools took part in the tournament.

Senior and junior teams from each school participated.

Lwandle Primary were outright victors in the junior’s division, in the four-aside matches.

According to the organisers, the aim of the festival was to create a safe environment for the learners.

The game ended 2-2 and Eluxolweni won 3-1 on penalties.

“It was a tough game. But I am happy because we managed to win the trophy,” said Eluxolweni coach Unathi Bongo.

He thanked the organisers for giving exposure to their learners.

“My aim is to see some of our players playing for Banyana-Banyana or any other professional teams,” he said.

Also the game between Lwandle and Kukhanyile (juniors) ended up 1-1 and Lwandle won 3-0 on penalties.

The co-founder of Ikasi Soccer School, Dumisani Ntsodo, described the tournament as giving hope to the young players.

Ntsodo announced that the winners walked away with new training kits.

“It’s not much, but the prizes in kind will elevate the status of the participants, it is hoped”, said the organisers.
