LETTER: Nothing beats good education

2017-02-02 06:02

Young people look up to our celebrities as role models and dream of being like them.

I have seen and heard lots of interviews where celebrities declare proudly how they quit school or dropped out of tertiary studies to focus on their talents or passions.

There is nothing wrong with using what God has given you, but if you compromise studying in favour of a talent, no future is certain.

There are tough times in life that can only be overcome through the power of education.

You may be a good actor, but there will be times when you won’t be the right person for a role.

You may be a good soccer player, but you may get an injury that sidelines you for life. You may be a good singer, but musicians come and go.

I appeal to young people to pursue education.

Those people may have nothing to resort to when tough times knock on their doors. Put education first, because talent without education is a risk.
