LETTER: Our bodies are a precious gift

2017-02-02 06:01

It is sad to know that we are living in an era where young women have lost all sense of worth, thus inflicting on us a loss of value.

I used to listen to my grandmother telling me how, in their generation they carried themselves with pride over their virgin status, because, according to them, that aspect of her body, was the most precious that God had entrusted in them.

She further told me how they resisted all manner of temptation from swashbuckling young men who came knocking on their doors.

“All they were interested in was to spoil this precious gift,” she would say.

To their generation, their virginity was more valuable than all the gold and diamonds combined.

On the other hand, I find her story to be such a cliché because in the 21st century, young ladies find diamonds and gold more precious than keeping their purity, as there are “Blessers” who offer them material possessions while they take God’s precious gift from them.

I am saying keep your virginity until God has provided you with a life partner.

Maya Angelou once said: “A woman’s heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her”. Imagine the pride on your wedding day knowing that you have waited and kept your purity.

I urge ladies to wait and keep their hearts hidden in Christ to regain the value and sense of worth. A girl is a flower.
