Pastor Mfundo Tywaku from All Apostolic Faith Mission in Khayelitsha believes that people convey God’s message in different ways through singing or preaching.

Tywaku, who is a gospel artist, released his fifth album Isigqibo in July last year.

He said without God’s spirit he wouldn’t be where he is.

Tywaku says he prays before composing a song.

“I am a born again Christian. I believe whatever I’m doing is coming from above. He is the one who is giving me strength and guide me all the time,” said Tywaku.

The man of God said he started singing in 2000 playing keyboard at church and later he became a vocalist.

“In 2003 I recorded my first album Siguqa Ngamadolo. Then my second album was released in 2005 called Ujesu Uthembekile. My third album was in 2008 Ndohlala Kuwe and in 2017 I released my fourth album Umangangathi Akekho Ekhona,” he counted.

He described the latest album as a fusion of traditional gospel and worship. “In this album, I worked with well-known gospel singer Dumi Mkokstad. He is the one who produced it. And people are really enjoying it,” he said.

Tywaku said he is singing about his personal experience and what is happening daily.

“It is a 10 song-album with a clear message. And the album is encouraging and reviving,” he explained. He said most of the time he promotes his music by singing at taxi ranks, funerals and on weddings.

He lambasted piracy for destroying artists’ careers. “My album is available at Musica, Bell Star Musica and online. Or people can get it from me for R50 a copy,” he said. For bookings or a CD he can be contacted on 073 990 4221
