A local poet, Khanyiso Thakholi, is calling on the community of Lwandle and surrounding areas to come out to support his maiden show this coming Saturday (20 July).Thakholi, who hails from Nomzamo, will present the show at the Lwandle Migrant Labour Museum where the participants will also be entertained through music, dance and poetry. He promises to light up the stage along other fellow artists, both local and from outside the area. Thakholi plans to hold this show annually around July, which also happens to be his birthday month.“As an artist I have never had my own show; I’ve only been involved in shows with other artists. So, I decided to take this step as I also celebrate my birthday in this month,” said the energetic creative. He says ticket sales were going very well, at a cost of only R30 for the show which will start at 13:00 and end at 17:00.“I plead for people to come out to support me on this step I am taking,” Thakoli implored. “On the day they will receive healing and teaching through the art of those performing. We will be teaching society about what they see happening in their communities daily, through various forms of entertainment,”Thakholi became interested in the world of art after starting out as a dancer in 2004. “Since then I have not looked back. Through the years, I learnt that there’s more to art than just dance, and I believe this is my calling,” he related.Thakholi has been promoting his show through local radio stations, on Facebook, and dishing out flyers. Those interested can also get tickets from him directly or by visiting the museum.
