Police work put criminals behind bars

The Nyanga Cluster Policing Precinct has apprehended more than 400 suspects during various operations conducted in Bishop Lavis, Elsies River, Guguletu, Manenberg, Nyanga and Philippi East.

137 suspects were apprehended during searches conducted at 95 drug houses as well as during stop-and- searches.

50 shebeen operations were conducted which led to 114 people arrested for dealing in liquor without licences and 1426.46 litres of liquor confiscated.

11 tracing operations were conducted and 65 wanted suspects arrested.

55 suspects were apprehended for crimes committed against women and children.

Six stolen vehicles were recovered in Bishop Lavis, Guguletu, Manenberg and Philippi East.

Suspects were apprehended for cases ranging from murder, assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm (GBH), attempted murders, robbery and other various cases. Various drugs were found.

Ten (10) firearms were also confiscated and 12 suspects apprehended for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

Three firearms were confiscated in Nyanga, two each in Bishop Lavis and Elsies River and one in Manenberg.
