Political leadership has lost the plot

2018-06-14 06:02

Institutions, organizations and societies are dysfunctional and hopeless, not because they are less funded or unable to organize themselves.

This is caused by the leadership they elect or imposed upon them.

Sometimes leaders are elected based on the fact that people have hope they will change the situation for the better.

Some are elected to feed on the factionalism of others.

Then it’s a matter of better the devil we know.

Many companies have failed dismally, not because they didn’t have the resources but they lack leadership with vision and mission.

Leadership must be about wiliness to serve and be guided, the ability to spot potential and being a risk taker

Currently, the City of Cape Town is a true reflection of organization with resources but unable to delivery due to suffering a lack of leadership.

The internal political dynamics of the DA are hindering the effectiveness of the municipality’s service delivery.

The DA is one of the most growing political parties and many strongly believe it is the better alternative to ending corruption and mismanagement of state funds.

Their inactiveness in dealing with the issues, especially sensitive information such as the appointment of the City Manager and the Mayco members, will definitely be its downfall.

Nepotism or the appointment of friends in higher positions continue to dominate the discourse.

It is Youth Month and no plans of any sort are there to address the unemployment and poverty faced by the youth within the city.

Service delivery must not be affected by political interferences and businesses must not be subjected to bylaws such a rezoning that also hinders the success of many youth in business.

Proper leadership is about creating a conducive space for businesses to be able to create opportunities and employment.
