Rebels, Rovers in heated stalemate

In a heated SAB Safa Cape Town regional fixture, Junction Rovers were forced to a 2-2 draw against Rebels FC in Heideveld on Saturday.

Both teams were let down by referee Sipho Mkhabane, whose decisions were questioned.

Shafiek Saralina broke the deadlock for Rovers with a magnificent goal. Instead of keeping the fort, the hosts got caught up in their excitement but it was short-lived as Siyabuka Manisi levelled the score when he sprinted away from the Rovers defence.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men after Abduraghmaan Jacobs was sent off by the confused referee and still fought back to salvage home pride.

Yashiem Brown scored a volley drive for the hosts as he charged into the goal area.

In the dying minutes of this nail-biting fixture Rovers failed to kept their cool and allowed substitute Qolo Kmunga to squeeze in the levelling goal.

Kuils River beat Riverside Rangers 1-0 in their home fixture on Saturday.

The hosts played with a better approach and had the visitors in disarray.

With his ability to manoeuvre the ball, Sage Cyster mesmerised the visitors with his winning goal.

ABC Motsepe leagueIkapa Sporting narrowly defeated Hout Bay United FC 1-0 in an ABC Motsepe Safa provincial encounter played at Northpine astro turf on Friday night.

The hosts played with discipline and accuracy while the visitors charged at them with attacking soccer.
