Renewal notices not printed

Notices for motor vehicle licence renewal notices for October have not been printed and posted by the Road Traffic Management Corporation.

The City of Cape Town says the delay will affect motorists whose discs expired on Monday 22 October.

Council asks motorists to check their discs to see if their licence is up for renewal. “Although this situation is outside of our control and not of our making, we sincerely apologise for any inconvenience,” said Johann van der Merwe, Mayoral Committee member for Finance.

“We advise that it is possible that the licence renewal process at our walk-in offices may take a few minutes longer due to the renewal notices not having been sent.”

You can also renew your licence online on www.capetown.gov.za.

Proof of residence and a copy of the identity document of the vehicle owner is required when applying for renewals; these documents can be scanned in and sent as an attachment for online application.

The City further advised vehicle owners to allow at least 10 days for online renewals, subject to the postal service.
