LETTER: Search for good role models

2016-07-14 06:00

As much as it takes a village to raise a child, the same principle applies to the destruction of a young person.

We cannot ignore society’s influence on the youth. Our elders today are two-faced.

They bless you in person but curse you as soon as you turn your back.

You can actually feel their hatred when they greet you. It hurts to see the people who should be leading us by example doing the exact opposite. I worry about the kind of leaders our society is grooming. Ours is a society where men, the heads of the home, are called dogs by their own wives. These same men allow their erections to lead them into the beds of the daughters they denied years ago. Even the elders who run for council are self-serving. Aren’t elders supposed to give the respect they demand from the youth? Let us not be bitter about this, my brothers and sisters.
