Tech entrepreneur Shaun Tebo is on a mission to change all perceptions about his Kasi, Nyanga East.

Regarded as the murder capital of South Africa, Nyanga, though, has produced many gems over the years.

Shaun,30, is currently building a website about and for Nyanga East residents, from his home in Emms Drive in Mau Mau.

This is the web designer’s second foray into this field after launchin one for hair salons in the area in 2017.

He said his aim is to improve the lives of his Kasi folk.

With the latest entry, he wants to record the hisory of Nyanga East, the whos-who of the area, past and present icons, a picture essay gallery and job opportunities. He also aims to set up an advertisement portal for local businesses.

“I’m gatvol of my area taking the flak for all the bad things happening in the country,” he said.

“When you tell a person that you are from Nyanga, the first thing that runs through their mind is the crime and all the negativity.

Some will go as far as mentioning it as soon as you tell them where you stay. It really is unfortunate because we have so much more to offer,” he said.

Shaun added that he was working with two of hs peers in the hope that the website will be up-and-running by month end.

“Everything is on track. We are still collecting pictures and information to put on the website. We have already bought the domain and I will be moving office to the Philippi Village this week,” he said.

Shaun possesses a national certificate in web and graphic design from the IT Academy, which he obtained in 2009. In 2012 he founded Shaun Design Solutions, building websites and offering design solutions to small businesses, individuals as well as NGO’s in the area.

“People I have spoken to about this site are very impressed and I am happy that people see value in what I do.

In my other website, I house local salons I already have about 27 customers who pay a monthly retainer and its going quite well. I just want people to know about the good things that are happening in Nyanga. I am not concerned about making money just yet, and will be offering free advertising to small businesses,” he said.

Shaun is on: 0605723296.
