A group of young women from Kasi have taken it upon themselves to show potential blessers the middle finger.

To mark Woman’s Day, petite and vivacious Khethiwe “Khethy” Ngubo hauled a group of her girlfriends to the Devonvale Golf & Wine Estate in Stellenbosch where they were pampered like the queens they are.

“We chose the day because we want drive the message home that women can make themselves happy without depending on men,” she said.

Khethy said this was a drive for women who are in control of their lives and women who want to take control of their lives.

“This drive focuses on making ourselves happy as women, not waiting on any man to make us happy in the sense of taking us out or dining,” she said.

Khethy said another aim was give a chance to ladies who have never visited a spa.

Utilising social networks, Khethy sent out an invite and the response was amazing.

“We had 18 women who said it had been their wish to get pampered and who loved the fact that it was an all women affair,” she said.

“I was confident of pulling this off because I believe as women, we are our own blessers. I also believe in order for our men to take us on holidays or spa treatment they must see it from us, doing it for ourselves,” she enthused.

“I want women to believe that they are able to take themselves out and have fun together as a group of women, I strongly believe that women are strong, they do not need validation. I want women to take ownership of themselves and start believing in themselves. Its time we own our thrones as women,“ she added.

Amanda Mokgosi said the whole affair was amazing.

“To share Woman’s Day with confident women from all walks of life was a morale booster. These women are leaders and they are willing to share their experiences and journeys of being a woman in South Africa in the 21st century.

“Being pampered and relaxing from the hustle and bustle of our daily lives,” she said.

Brenda Vakala described the outing as “tranquil and empowering”.

“I just don’t know how to say it,” she smiled as the cameraman flashed the beautiful ladies with the stamina of an Olympian.

Mellisa Huma felt it was a revitalising session that brought a sense of calmness.

“Spending the whole day in different surroundings and company was empowering indeed ,” said Mellisa.
