Cape Town has a new world champion in a 24 year old Sinethemba “Taylor” Bam of Site C. Bam was crowned the IBF Junior Featherweight youth Champion on Friday 30 September in Orient theatre. In an action packed rematch against Phila Gola, Site C’s Sinethemba “Tylor” Bam won a split. The match was highly anticipated by South African Boxing fans as it was a rematch after Bam had dethroned Gola in January this year.

Sinethemba “Taylor” Bam was born on 06 March 1992 in Site C, Khayelitsha and has played boxing almost his whole childhood under Coach Zola Koti in Luvuyo Boxing Club. The Youngman has a highly decorated amateur credentials and at SANABO his achievements are -2007-2008(Silver medallist in Cadets Championships) and SANABO Senior Championships-2010 (Bronze) 2011(Gold medallist). He has also represented Represent South Africa in a series of All African Games.

He made his pro his pro debut in Feb 2014 when he knocked out Daniel Julies from Knysna in 2 rounds. He wasted no time after that fight as he had won all his seven in 2014 and 2015. Within the same year he was rated number 1 in the South African ratings amongst many talented fighters in this country. Last year he had since decided to campaign as a Junior Featherweight and he is now rated number 2. Bam is amongst the busiest Boxers in the country as he has fought 3 fights in every year of his 3 year old career.

The only difference in this particular fight the decision was a split decision with one judge giving the fight to Gola by 96 – 95 while the other two judges gave it to Bam by 96 -94. Bam’s record now improves to an unblemished 9 – 0.
