KHAYELITSHA Development Forum chairman Ndithini Thyido said the organisation is shocked by the death of Siyabulela Thwalane (41).

He was gunned down in Litha Park, Khayelitsha on Saturday.

Thyido said: “The forum is angered by the loss of one of its bright stars.

“We have been robbed of a member who was committed to uplifting his community

“He was a humble person who always offered help when it was needed.

“He assisted the forum free of charge.”

The chairman said Thwalane was a close friend he grew up with in Khayelitsha.

Thwalane was a member of the ANC and the National Health Education and Allied Workers Union.

Many were shocked by his gruesome murder which took place in broad daylight.

Western Cape ANC secretary Faiez Jacobs, who was told of Thwalane’s death shortly after the shooting, said the party has lost a committed comrade.

“He was a hardworking individual who had served the party in several capacities.

“We are saddened by his untimely death and send our condolences to his family and friends.”

He said Thwalane worked as a political educator in the ANC and was part of a team that understood the importance of unity.

The secretary said Siyabulela was an activist who fought for workers’ rights under Nehawu.

Police spokesman Capt Frederick van Wyk said the shooting was reported to cops at about 4.50pm on Saturday
