All roads will lead to Lwandle Sports Complex this coming Saturday, when u-19 boys from five local football associations (LFAs) vie for a spot in the next round of the Safa Cape Town u-19 trials.

The young players will get the chance to showcase their talents in front of scouts looking to select the Cape’s top u-19 players for the union’s u-19 team.

According to a circular sent out by Elton Lotriet, Safa Cape Town General Secretary, the trials will be played in LFA cluster groupings.

“Following the LFA coaches and selectors meeting, it was decided to cluster LFAs and then host u-19 trials,” he explained.

The various LFAs have been clustered into eight zones, with the Helderberg LFA playing host to the Zone C trials on Saturday 14 April. Players from the host LFA, along with those from the Mfuleni, Simunye, Delft and Blue Downs LFAs will vie for a spot in the next round.

Similar trial sessions will take place at Malibu Sports Complex, Browns Farm Sports Field, Site C Lingelethu Sports Complex, Westridge Sports Complex, Heideveld Sports Complex, Solo Street Sports Complex and Robinvale Sports Complex on the same day.

Players who are members of clubs affiliated to the participating LFAs, born in 2000 and 2001 are invited to attend the trials.

“All players are advised to take along their own boots and training gear for the trials,” Lotriet said.
