Spotlight on visual art

2016-02-11 06:00

The local visual art industry will take its place in the spotlight from 16 to 21 February during Art Week Cape Town 2016.

The event, which coincides with the Cape Town Art Fair and That Art Fair, seeks to increase visibility and strengthen the local arts industry, while also making local art more accessible.

Art enthusiasts will be able to enjoy free exhibitions, walk abouts and instillations at various galleries in and around the CBD. Also on the program are guided tours to Gugulethu Home Galleries on Sunday 21 February.

One of the highlights of the week is Live Architecture: The 55 Minute Hour - a series of site-specific performances aimed at drawing audiences out of their comfort zones and exploring lesser known spaces in Cape Town.
