Entrepreneurship is a journey, it is not a sprint, so start small and slowly.

Lets assume you have found an idea, started your business and looked for resources.

The next step is to start selling, taking your product or service to a market which would readily receive what is on offer.

A business is a business only if it has paying customers. Some customers like to test you and want to use your services for free. Do not fall into this the trap, instead find paying customers.

This is the most important step in a new business; build it and take it to the market, which means introducing it for use, thus allowing us to touch and feel and then pay for it.

There are different ways of finding customers’

You can go to a shopping centre and ask for a space to display your products or services.

Have samples or flyers at the ready, including a reliable contact number.

Allow customers to comment, compliment and give you feedback on your product.

Always welcome constructive criticism. These are not to be taken personally. Customers will always criticize your business products, not you.

Another way of finding customers is business association.

Speak to well established businesses and ask them if you can work with them and access their customers and possibly attract more customers for their business.

Join local business fora, network and talk about your business.

As you start seeing sales coming in, you can save up for business registration and then open a business bank account.

I encourage business registration in the early stages, because each business is a brand, so it must be registered timely.
