Suspects arrested

Over 100 suspects were arrested in the Nyanga precinct last weekend.

Police spokesperson Captain Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi said 111 suspects were arrested during integrated operations.

She said some suspects were arrested for armed robberies, especially those targeting Taxify drivers, murder, possession of hijacked vehicles, rape, sexual assault, possession of stolen property, drugs, dealing in liquor, drunken driving and possession of imitation firearms.

Sitshitshi said an assortment of drugs, litres of liquor and several stolen property were confiscated during the operations.

She said seven more suspects were arrested for serious crimes on Tuesday 17 September. Five suspects are due in court for attempted murder and possession of a stolen vehicle.

She said the two other suspects a 28-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man were arrested in Browns Farm for murder and rape cases.
