Suspects held

Harare SAPS arrested three suspects after they allegedly robbed emergency service personnel of their cellphones while attending to a patient.

The incident took place in the last week of December when an ambulance was stopped at Walter Sisulu Road in Mandela Park to give assistance to an injured person.

It was alleged that while giving necessary assistance to the patient, they were approached by three suspects who were armed with firearms. Two cellphones were taken from them and the suspects fled the scene on foot. However, after a clear description of the suspects supplied, the police managed to track down all three suspects that were allegedly involved. They also followed up the lead as to where the cellphones were sold and recovered them.

As a result the person who bought the cellphones was also arrested on charges of being in possession of stolen property.

Police spokesman Captain Siyabulela Vukubi said Siphelo Manunga (19), Pule Sekhoba (26) and Mihlali Qoboshe (19) were arrested and charged for armed robbery.

“They made a court appearance and were remanded in custody until their next court date which will be on Friday January 13,” said Vukubi.
