Harare police have arrested two suspects who allegedly shoot to death a woman in her home, but took nothing from her.

According to the police, the incident took place in 42 Block Makhaza at around 22:00.

“Two suspects- one of them armed with a firearm- entered the victim’s residence and allegedly demanded the television.

The victim told the suspects to take the television but instead they turned the gun on her and shot her several times,” said spokesperson Captain Siyabulela Vukubi.

The victim was transported to Khayelitsha day hospital where she later passed on.

“The police have launched a manhunt for the ruthless killers.

Both suspects, aged 30 and 31 respectively were arrested on Monday 22 January after police conducted a thorough investigation,” he said.

Police also confiscated a pistol loaded with three rounds which was allegedly used in the murder.

The suspects appeared in the Khayelitsha Magistrate Court on Wednesday.

“We would like to send a strong message that the incidents of this nature that are perpetrated against woman would not be tolerated. The brutal murder of the mother of young children who are now left motherless is a big blow and police would do their best in making sure that justice is served,” said Vukubi.

.In a separate incident Harare SAPS tracing team made a breakthrough when they arrested two suspects shortly after a murder.

“Police attended a murder scene at 35 block Harare, Khayelitsha where a victim was allegedly shot twice by two unknown suspects. The reason for the murder is still under investigation. The police immediately launched a manhunt for the alleged killers. They arrested both suspects aged 27 and 33 and confiscated a Luger pistol loaded with five rounds which police believe it was used to commit the murder,” he said.

Both suspects appeared at the Khayelitsha Magistrate Court.
