Suspense as Busy Bees await final opponents

2018-09-27 06:01

On Saturday, all roads lead to City Park in Athlone, for the semi-finals of the club competition between Super League B and Super League C.

Busy Bees and Macassar will only know their opponents on Saturday as the quarter-finals were held last night.

The outcome of the quarter-finals were not available at the time of going to print.

Busy Bees accumulated 57 points in their 14 matches while Macassar has 62 points. The points difference between these two is due to Busy Bees losing two games, while Macassar drew one game.

Blue Jets won their away match against Young Wesleys on Saturday by 43-35 while Langa lost to Strand United by 39-14. Blue Jets are lying 10th on the log while Langa is in 8th position.

In the Top Nine Competition, also known as the Promotion League, Lagunya still has to win a match.

They played three matches thus far and have lost all three and has a points deficit of -58 points.

Masiphumelele is lying second on the log after Blue Stars United and the points difference between the top three positions are marginal.

Blue Stars have 19, Masiphumelele 16 and Van der Stel-Evergreens 14 points on the log.

Lagunya is the only team that is in action on Saturday when they play against Retreat. They lost against Van der Stel-Evergreens by 44-17.

Macassar and Busy Bees are contenders to play in Super League B next year if they win the semis on Saturday and the promotion-relegation matches.

Langa and Blue Jets will again be in action in Super League C in the 2019 season.

Masiphumelele said at the beginning of the Promotion League that they aspire to be one of the three teams to play in Super League C next year and this means progress from City League to Super League C.

Lagunya will be in action again in 2019 in the City League.
