Dynamic kwaito duo, Team Mosha, recently visited the Mother City to shoot their latest music video, Waya Waya with Master KG.

City Vision caught up with the Sofa Silahlane hitmakers to find out what their plans are.

Accompanied by their unofficial third member, vocalist Sandy, Mpho Talana and Mantshane Malala said their lives have changed for the better since the release of their first single Senya Retla Patela.

“It is overwhelming to receive such wonderful reviews from the public, our hardwork clearly does not go unnoticed,” Sandy said.

Their debut album, Sofa Silahlane, has earned the Mamelodi-based musicians two South African Music Awards (Sama) nominations.

They are nominated for Best Kwaito Album alongside Busiswa, Chomee and Trendsetters.

Their second nomination, which came a month after the official nominations list announcement in April, is for Duo or Group of the year alongside powerhouses like Mafikizolo, Mi Casa, Prime Circle and Goldfish.

“It has always been our dream to win a Sama, so it does not give us pressure at all. We are still adapting to how things in the music industry works,” Talana said.

“We were in shock when our name got called among the nominees for best Kwaito Album, it was a nice feeling,” the quiet Malala said.

Currently, Team Mosha is not working on any music projects at the moment, but just promote their album.

“We want our music to stay, we do not want to be here for just five years. [So] we have to make sure that we produce the best music so that people can enjoy it for a long time to come,” Malala said.

“Gqom is nice, but a lot of people a doing it. Our main focus was to bring something different to the country, which is to keep kwaito alive.

They promised to come back to the city to give Capetonians the opportunity to experience them performing live.
