The story: #itemustbecrowned, (City Vision, 12 November 2015) refers.

I wish to thank City Vision editor and staff for running my story on the front page.

It was a deeply humbling experience. I would Iike to thank God for giving meaning to my dreams and affording me the opportunity to be crowned a 1st Princess in the Miss Teen Cape Town 2015.

I would like to extend a warm word of appreciation and gratitude to everyone who has rallied behind me during the journey to the crowning glory.

Some(supporters) were very loud, while others were quiet in their corners, but all of that culminated into an overwhelming support for me.

Through the favour of the Almighty, I managed to raise a sponsorship of about R9300 (from parents who believed in my dream) for 62 tickets at R150 per ticket.

The following organisations were among those who benefited from that drive and were part and parcel of the Glitz n’ Glamour at Durbanville Conference on Saturday:

• Sive Nathi Home in Blackheath

• Orion Home in Atlantis

• I&J Unakho Home in Guguletu

• Thembalethu School in Guguletu

• Building the Woman of Tomorrow foundation in Guguletu

I’d also like to thank and appreciate my grandmother “Mamaaa” MaXaba for the support and for the words of encouragement she blessed me with.

Special one to my aunt Andelwa Mothibi - she was the one who gave me my audition fee and now having to have been crowned I’m truly blessed.

Thanking my dear parents who ran around like headless chickens making sure I had everything I needed. I can never be able to thank them enough, but I do pray that God keeps and blesses them abundantly, knowing that I love them dearly. Not forgetting my Godmother in Gauteng “Taylor” and Aunty Mpume fo their support and guidance.

My little brothers Ams and Ols… you rock my world! This achievement is one I can never shake off, a plus size model winning a pageant.

It’s the beginning of many great things(to come for me). To the other finalists, I’m grateful for meeting each one of you, and I hope we see each other often and work together.

To my Queen and Princess may God guide us during our reign and may we always have what’s best for other teens of Cape Town.

Teenage Pageants SA thank you for awarding me this lifetime opportunity. Building the Woman of Tomorrow... the platform is ours.

Let’s go out there, hollering to the top pf our voices and sing: “Who runs the World – GIRLS! It is said in the vernacular: Maz’enethole. Ukwanda kwaliwa ngumthakath.
