Seventeen people were left injured on Thursday morning, one of them seriously, when a truck overturned on the N2 highway before the R300 in Khayelitsha.

ER24 paramedics, along with Metro and other services, arrived on the scene at 08h21 to find a truck lying on its right side in the right-hand lane.

“Numerous people that had been travelling on the back of the vehicle were now scattered around the scene,” said Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson.

Paramedics assessed the patients and found that seventeen people had been injured.

“One man had sustained serious injuries while the remainder had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

They were treated on the scene with pain-relief before they were transported to various provincial hospitals for further treatment.
