UPhawu Community Development has put a smile on the faces of 156 children as part of their end-of-year.

On Friday, the group hosted a gala dinner in Cape Town.

And at the Beautiful Gates, they entertained children from Philippi and Kossovo with drama, music, poetry, dance and jumping castles.

Mondeka Mabibini, of Uphawu thanked the parents of Kossovo and Philippi for their trust in her by allowing their kids to be part of the after school programmes.

She thanked volunteers Sithembile Noninzi, who also acts as an art facilitator and Asandiswa Betty Hungana, a music facilitator, including Asithandile Mabibini, the personal assistant.

She also thanked their main sponsor and employers, Smith Tabata Buchanan Boyes, a firm of attorneys, for the ongoing support, beginning in 2015, Ben from Fresh Stop Airport Industrial for the sandwiches throughout the year, Greeff Properties, Adidas and Ward 88 Councillor Siphiwo Nqamnduku, family and friends for their support.

She also said they needed volunteers for their programmes next year, and pleaded with local business to get involved and people to donate shoes, reading material and music equipment.

UPhawu is a Non Profit Organisation (NPO) which was established in 2015.
