The cable and metal theft war is far from over even though recent statistics on the arrests and conviction of suspects creates room for optimism. Metrorail Western Cape says the lack of illegal scrap yards being closed, the continued flouting of Second Hand Goods Act and the social-economic climate which produces new criminals – these types of crimes are likely to continue.
