Her name is Sesethu Mani and she is 33 years old. A mother of two adorable daughters, she hails from the Eastern Cape in a village called Kwalini. She is an epitome of a free spirited woman who gets great comfort in helping others. She is now a resident of Khayelisha.

Crowned Miss Africa Tourism Earth 2018 on 4 November in the Gauteng Province, the pageant was held at the North West ATKV Buffelsport under the following segments: Miss Africa-18-25, 25-40 and Mrs Africa, 25-44, including Mrs Africa Classic- aged 45-60

The contestants were judged according to the tasks that were given to them every second week as the activities lasted for six months. They were given topics to discuss, they also had to generate videos and forward them to the judges. They had to perform some charity work and do fund raising through public speaking, judging and hosting high teas.

The pageant week started from on 29 October till the 5 November 2017 respectively. Their week was hectic and fun as well as they had to visit the Lions Park. While exploring nature, they also had an opportunity to feed the animals.

They were judged in the following outfits: Traditional costumes, interview wear judging, casual wear judging and evening gown judging

Mani said she was ecstatic when she was crowned Miss Africa Tourism Earth 2018 and also received a Determination Award in 2017. She will be representing Africa internationally in 2018 and this shows that her work in different projects will continue.

Mani said she was raised by a mother who taught her to share, no matter how small she had.

She said getting rid of these values is hard even as she realises that people took advantage of her generosity.

Being a finalist gave her more reason to be a cheerful giver, because all the tasks involved working with different people and giving a helping hand whenever it was needed. She says that it was a great pleasure to share some of her work with everyone, not because she was looking for praise but she hoped that people would learn and follow her example.

“Children do not really care who you are and what you have, as long as you treat them well and that is all that matters”, she added.

The children’s home welcomed them with open arms and everything regarding the home was explained to them.

“It really takes a village to raise a child.” Mani explains that she is where she is today because of listening and respecting elders, regardless of what they had or did not have.

A strong believer, she said that God rewards and blesses everyone who has helped to make all the work possible.

She is also involved in what she calls bringing back the dignity not only to young girls but also older women as there is so much that they go through and in that process they lose themselves and self-confidence.

“I make it my duty to ensure that everyone that comes into contact with me feels great about themselves after ive spoken to them” she says.

A motivational speaker, Mani recently spoke at the Sakhikamva Children’s Home in Khayelitsha.

Among her other achievements, she was nominated for the Appreciation Community Awards, with all the work she has done in the past six months in her community she received a Woman in Projects Award, recognised in Woman in Leadership and Woman in Business on 26 November 2017. So basically this shows that she was the overall winner of the Women at the Well Awards that were held at the Isivivane Centre in Khayelitsha.
