LETTER: Workers sold to capitalists

2016-02-18 06:00

I read in the press that government intends relaxing the Labour Relations Act to become business friendly. What is this all about?

It looks as if we want a strong economy and for capitalists to get huge profits, but that’s only possible if the working class bleeds. It was reported that some mining houses are planning on retrenching workers. When #FeesMustFall started, the chief communist stood up and said the private sector must fund free education.

By so saying, he was instructing the private sector not to give the workers increases this coming year.

What happened with the e-tolls, labour brokers and recently, the workers’ pensions?

In our country, where most of the managers and executives are whites, with only a few blacks who had brain surgery to think like whites, once the Labour Relation Act has been taken away, exploitation and racism will rise.

I don’t understand why they say they want to make firing workers more simple because it is already simple. This is fixing what is not broken. In a nutshell, relaxing the act and upcoming retrenchments will never boost the economy but will make the decline worse.
