Zolani Sonjica (26) an up and coming chef from Mfuleni has high hopes of starting up his own catering company one day, after completing a six months hospitality course at the Infinity Culinary Training (ICT).

ICT is a non profit organisation that provides free, six months training to up-and- coming chefs.

The six months course is divided into nine weeks of classroom work, three weeks of unpaid internship and three months of paid employment, which the institution provides.

Recent graduate Sonjica said before doing the course, he had to drop out of the College of Cape Town where he was studying towards a hospitality course because of personal problems.

“I had to drop out in the first year, but because I love this industry, I found out about this six months course and I applied,” he said.

He said at first people were confused as to why he was doing a cooking course but later realised it has nothing to do with gender.

Sonjica said he would one day love to own his own catering company and create jobs for the youth in his area.

“The course will help me in realising my dream of starting my own business in hospitality industry,” he said.

He encouraged anyone who would love to do the course to apply instead of sitting idle.
