EIGHTY-six-year-old Isnembe Secondary School held its landmark 50th annual athletics meeting this past week at school grounds.

The four timeless houses - Jupiter, Mercury, Neptune and Saturn - once again competed.

The sports comprised field (shot putt, high jump, long jump and tug-o-war), track and novelty events.

Spirits were high and athletes displayed a high level of competition and dedication by pupils and trainers.

The day’s programme included cultural dances (Zulu and Indian) as well as a ceremonious cake-cutting.

Principal Nadeera Bhugwandass conveyed her thanks to all sponsors, well-wishers, the student governing body, teachers, parents and pupils for making the event a grand success.

The log positions at the end of the day with a nail-biting finish was as follows:

In first place Jupiter, Neptune was placed second, Saturn came third and Mercury finished fourth
