WITH the winter waves rolling onto the KwaDukuza shore, so too will the 47th edition of the world’s longest running professional surfing event, The Ballito Pro, presented by Billabong and the biggest beach festival on the continent, the Ballito Pro Festival.

The Ballito Pro was officially launched at the La Montagne on Friday, saying goodbye to a long-time partnership with Mr Price and beginning a new relationship with Billabong.

From 29 June to 5 July festival-goers will have the opportunity to soak up non-stop entertainment, watch the world’s best surfers in action and witness first-hand why KwaDukuza is a world-class surfing and holiday destination.

“We are extremely pleased to present the 2015 event to our international and domestic visitors. Together with our new partners, we aim to bring you a world-class event, in celebration of 47 years of formalised surfing in South Africa and beyond. Save the date, we look forward to seeing you on the beach in Ballito,” said KwaDukuza municipality events co-ordinator, Collette Bundy.

With over 100 000 visitors touching down on KwaDukuza’s shores during the surfing and lifestyle festival last year, 2015 promises to be bigger and better.

With a range of fun-filled entertainment activities planned for the family, festival-goers can expect exciting beach soccer and volleyball activations, regular stage performances by local dancers, singers and performers.

Adrenaline junkies will get their share of world-class entertainment too as the festival’s extreme sports programme is guaranteed to thrill with parkour displays, Freestyle Motocross displays by Monster Le Riche brothers, a Monster Surf Expression Session and the Monster Beach Surf Movie Night powered by Zigzag.

Visitors will be treated to fine wining and dining at the Coastal Living Bru Food andamp; Wine Festival hosted at La Montagne Hotel from 30 June 30 to 2 July.

Always a crowd favourite, the free music concerts, presented by 5FM, attract some of SA’s hottest bands to rock out on the Salt Rock beach stage for three nights of non-stop music from 2 to 4 July.

Crush Nightclub will be continuing the music celebrations late into the night with their pumping afterparties, battle of the DJ contest and bar flaring competitions.

Surfing’s elite performers will return to KwaDukuza for a seventh successive year when the Ballito Pro presented by Billabong, a QS10,000 rated event on the World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS), runs from 29 June to 5 July.

This year will also see the return of women to the surfing contest for the first time since 2008 with the internationally rated womenand#039;s surfing event, The Ballito Womenand#039;s Pro presented by Billabong, held at Willard Beach on 28 June.

The Ballito Pro have called on KwaDukuza locals to also play their part in this world-class surfing event by entering a competition to design The Ballito Pro’s new trophy
