NEW Covenant Fellowship (NCF) North church has, since its inception in July 2011, reached out to many families in need of support through its Social Assistance Department. The support provided has primarily been given to families who have been attending the church.

However, given that the church has been actively involved in the Tongaat community for over four years, senior Pastor Mervyn Jean-Louis felt it appropriate that through Project Hope, NCF North could reach out to those in need throughout the community.

The primary objective of Project Hope is to clothe and feed 5 000 members of the community of Tongaat, which includes men, women and children.

As a church NCF North has called on its members to provide support and assistance in finding sponsorships to fund the objectives of the day.

The support received to date from church members, individuals from the surrounding community and businesses in Tongaat and the greater Durban area has been exceptional.

On 27 June 300 volunteers will serve people attending the event. NCF North has worked with the local municipality, SAPS, Metro Police, emergency services and a private security company in order to ensure that adequate crowd control is in place and that all participants are able to enjoy a fun-filled family day while having some of their basic needs met.

The event is open to all members of the community and apart from the clothing and food distribution, fun activities for children, including jumping castles, games and live entertainment have been planned. The project takes place on 27 June 2015 at the Outspan Grounds, Tongaat.
