IPSS Medical Rescue and the eThekweni Fire department attended the accident scene.

“The local residents would not let the fire department near the scene to extinguish the fire,” said a paramedic on the scene.

“IPSS Medical Rescue were able to treat and transport 12 patients before being chased away by angry residents.”

In a separate incident IPSS Medical Rescue were called to attend to an accident on the Tongaat River bridge where the driver of the vehicle lost control and hit the bridge.

“Despite a rapid response by the Kwa-dukuza Fire Department, the driver lost his life as he was entrapped in the vehicle which was engulfed in flames.

“Our condolences go out to the family of this young man who is believed to be a Ballito resident,” said a paramedic on the scene
