Acacia Primary gets new library

2017-11-02 06:00

“These children are going to love their new library and the exciting books they can explore,” Persad said.

After the painting of the library, the installation of the shelves and the sorting and stacking of the books on Friday, October 20, the library was officially handed over to the headmaster, Vis Govender.

Govender thanked the team from La Montagne, who painted and set up the library as well as community members who donated books.

“It is crucial to have books to improve literacy, learn new things and develop a creative mind in young children.

“Reading is the cornerstone of education, the key to success and if you are breathing, you should be reading. We are thus ecstatic and immensely grateful for the contribution towards improving public education and that of our children. I would also like to thank Persad, who took the initiative in putting our school forward,” Govender said.

General manager at La Montagne Simon Baile said he and his resort staff had no hesitation in coming on board to support Acacia Primary School’s cause in keeping with First Group’s ethos of community upliftment.

“At La Montagne, we do everything we can to support our local community at grass-roots level, where the benefits are long-lasting.

“Hospitality is all about service, and we are thrilled to be of service to Acacia Primary,” Baile said.
