AMAN who was arrested for possession of drugs is expected to appear in the Verulam Magistrate’s Court this week. The suspect was found in possession of 27 pink capsules suspected to be rock cocaine. The suspect, whose name is being withheld until he appears in court, was arrested at the Trenance Park taxi rank on March 7.

SAPS spokesperson in Verulam Captain Henry Kisten said: “Warrant Officer Rajen Naidoo and Constable Rajiv Lokhai were performing crime prevention duties in the Verulam CBD when they received information about a man dealing drugs at the taxi rank. The suspect was arrested and detained in police cells.

“There will be ongoing operations taking place at this taxi rank,” Kisten said.

Station commander Brigadier Victor Dludla commended the officers and said the taxi rank is a problematic area.
