THE fourth running of the Arise Awake Fun Run/Walk which takes place on Thursday, 16 June at the Outspan Grounds in Tongaat commencing at 8am, is expected to be a gala event celebrating the 100 year milestone of the Shree Veeraboga Emperumal Temple in Gandhi’s Hill Tongaat.

The temple is presently engaged in a series of Centenary celebratory events and has partnered with the Tongaat Hindu Unity Forum to celebrate with the greater Tongaat community with the grand fun run/walk, which is expected to attract over 2000 participants from both within and outside Tongaat.

It costs R10 to enter the race and the first 2000 runners will receive a t-shirt, a medal at the finish and will be served breakfast after the race. A variety of sporting activities for all ages from the youth to the senior citizens will take place after the race. The fun day will culminate with lunch.

“The Shree Veeraboga Emperumal Temple and the Forum have gone out of the way to make the 2016 running of the Arise Awake Fun Run bigger and better with a whole range of fun events and activities for the whole family to participate in,” said SVET Centenary celebrations co-ordinator Yogan Naidoo.

All the support received from the major sponsors goes back to the community. Entry forms are available from temple officials at any one of the temples in Tongaat or members of the forum whose contact details are as follows: Sugie Govender (cell 073 356 5918), Kass Naidoo (cell 0739105378), Nirosha Naidoo (cell 0721181187). - Supplied
