Athletes shine at marathon

A CONTINGENT of Checkout Verulam Falcons athletes participated in the Gaterite Challenge over the past weekend.

The refreshing weather conditions was welcomed by marathon runners who had an ardous return to Verulam from Tongaat. Runners were blessed with the race conditions at the weekend.

The rejuvenated Bonginkosi Ngubane led Team Falcons with a fluid sub 4 hour marathon time. He was followed home by Mongi Tshikitsha.

Ashwin Bedesi and Ignatuis Nehore led the 21km runners. Celiwe Ndaba led the walkers in 2 :33.

Nduduzo Shabane ran a splendid 10km in a time of 37 minutes.

He was followed by Farouk Kadwa and Amras Moodley. Mogie Padaychee led the walkers.
