THE Verulam Child and Family Welfare Society is appealing to anyone, who may know the relatives or family­ of a baby that was found abandoned near Verulam­ Secondary School ground on 24 August, to come forward.

Social worker Meela Bangtu said: “As social workers we are trying to get children reunited with their family instead of sending them to foster care institutions.

“The child was found abandoned by a passerby returning from work and took the child to Verulam police station. He was taken to Osindisweni. The child is in temporary care waiting for the parents to come forward.” Anyone with the information, must contact Bangtu on 032 533 1046.
