MEMBERS of Brake Village
Aalayam Cultural Academy placed second for kolaattam (Tamil stick dance) at the annual KZN Inter-Regional Children’s Tamil Eisteddfod at Shree Parasakthie temple in Merebank on July 1 and 2.

The cultural academy is an affiliate of the lower North Coast region.

Prior to this win, the group won their regional eisteddfod in Phoenix.

The group now advances to the next stage of the competition and will be one of two groups representing KwaZulu-Natal in the kolaattam category at the national eisteddfod to be held in Arena Park, Chatsworth on July 8 and 9.
