CALYPSO sporting FC took on Wild Katz FC in the last match of the first round of the indoor football league on Friday night.

Going into this match Calypso Sporting FC wanted to finish the first round on top and to also remain unbeaten. Calypso started the match by going for the opening goal, but the opposition did well in the first few minutes to sit back and absorb the pressure and try to counter attack.

The opposition’s goalkeeper did extremely well in the opening minutes to make a number of saves that kept Calypso at bay, but this did not last long.

With the continued pressure and onslaught, the opening goal was inevitable.

The first goal came midway in the first half through some good passing and gave Calypso the momentum of going forward.

The second goal came with 10 minutes left in the first half and at half time were 3-0 ahead.

In the second half Calypso took off from where they left in the first half and continued with the attack and in search of more goals and they did this by keeping possession and not losing the ball. The goals started to flow midway in the second half and thereafter scored regularly till the end to win the match 9-1.

The team will want to continue the second round on a winning run when they take on Maidstone FC on Friday 23 September at 8pm and are preparing for a tough encounter.

The coaches are also geared for this and training will intensify to ensure that basics are done and is applied and to also motivate the players for the next stage of the league.

Training for outdoor will be on Tuesdays from 7pm to 8pm at the Shaik Mohideen stadium and match practice will be on all Sundays at the indoor stadium from 5pm to 6pm. - Supplied
