Calypso still on top

2016-10-13 06:00

DESPITE a night of frustration and disappointment, Calypso Sporting FC played their indoor match after weeks of layout due to walkovers and cancellations.

When they arrived at the stadium for the 7pm match the team found that the stadium was not booked and was being used by a team from Stanger for training from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. They also found out that their scheduled match against Wild Karts FC was cancelled and they were to play Spain FC.

However with intervention from the club, the team from Stanger allowed Calypso Sporting to use the stadium from 8pm.

The match started as usual by Calypso Sporting FC taking the attack to the opposition in search of the opening goal.

The opposition did well in the first few minutes to show resistance in defense and tried to attack as well.

The first goal came midway in the first half through some good play and passing by the strikers.

The second goal also came shortly afterwards and at half time they were leading 3-1.

In the second half Calypso continued with the attack to finish the match and went all out for more goals. The goals came midway in the second half and were leading 9-1 when the match should have ended.

With the regulation time of 20 minutes over the referee played an extra 15 minutes and in the that time Calypso Sporting conceded four goals, but still won the match 9-5. This win firmly places Calypso Sporting on top of the league log and as usual it was an all -round performance by the players and the team.

The management could not ask for more considering the confusion, frustration and disappointment at the start and at one point the fixture was almost cancelled.

This week training will continue as usual in final preparation for the few matches that is left before the season closes.
