MEMBERS of the Verulam Social Crime prevention unit recently held a crime awareness day at Waterloo Sports centre for children from the Waterloo crèche, initiated by Constable Nkosini.

More than 200 children, teachers and care givers from local crèches attended the event.

The event coincided with child protection week. Guest speakers were present from Department of Health, Thuthuzela Care Centre, Child Line and guest speaker from the Tongaat Hullet group. SAPS Verulam spokesperson Captain Henry Kisten said: “The children were taught about child abuse and the importance of education. Pamphlets were distributed to the community.”
