TRADERS at the Verulam Daily Market are up in arms over the renovation of the market which resulted in them being moved to the Morning Market.

Stall owners claim that they were not consulted by the council about the renovation of the market.

Last Wednesday, stalls were demolished at the Daily Market while traders were still on site. This came after a meeting that was held between the market stall owners and officials from eThekwini Municipality in Verulam municipal offices.

At a meeting the traders opposed the demolition of the stalls saying: “the new place is not safe”.
