Cops swoop on Waterloo school

2018-06-07 06:02

POLICE conducted a surprise search at Waterloo Secondary School recently. The unexpected visit by members of the Crime Prevention Unit happened one morning last week.

The police were responding to numerous complaints received from other schools about some of the pupils being in possession of drugs and weapons.

However, during the search no drugs or weapons were recovered.

Police said: “The search was targeting drugs and knives. The members were complimented by the school management for the professional manner in which the search was conducted. There were no drugs or dangerous weapons found. We also want to compliment the pupils for co-operating with the police when the search was being conducted.”

CPF chairperson Duncan Dube applauded the police for conducting routine checks in schools.

“Some random checks are important because it keeps the children on their toes. As parents and CPF leaders we welcome random searches in schools to ensure that children are safe,” Dube said.
