Cottonlands outdoor gym opens

2019-01-10 06:00

COTTONLANDS residents will now have a place to do some body-weight work after a new outdoor gym was installed recently.

The facility was funded by AfriSam Verulam Quarry in conjunction with eThekwini Municipality and other departments.

At the opening, ward councillor Fakazi Mdletshe expressed her enthusiasm for the new facility, urging residents to take ownership of it and asking that the community ensures that the facility is not vandalised.

“For the first time, the community of Cottonlands have an outdoor gym. Children and elders are encouraged to use it. We don’t want our children to find our area boring.

“We also encourage senior citizens to make use of this facility.”

Mdletshe added that there were more community projects coming up in ward 60: “This outdoor gym will serve as proof that we endeavour to develop our ward 60.

“There’s another spot that has been earmarked for development in Mhlasini area. We are planning to put up another outdoor gym there for the community.”
