HOLIDAYS should be about relaxing and having a good time with friends and family.

But things don’t always work out that way.

Here’s how to be prepared:

If you stock your medicine chest, things such as holiday stress, a stomach upset, gout, or a cold just won’t get to spoil your well-deserved holiday.

Here’s more about a few products you can use to help you have a good break right to the end:

Travel as such can be very stressful, especially if it involves flights, busy roads, delays and long journeys. Also just getting to the point of departure is often stressful in itself, especially if you have kids in tow.

Even if you stay at home, you might have houseguests, which can be tricky in itself, as you find yourself cooking, cleaning and entertaining.

If you need a bit of help to stay calm under fire, remember Relicalm - calm convenience. It will help you concentrate and keep you calm when you need it most. Relicalm is not habit-forming, and won’t make you feel sleepy – and its effects can be felt within half an hour and can last for up to five hours.

Digestive problems

You’re in a strange place, and you’re eating food you might not be used to.

Add the possible stress of travelling or an illness to that and it’s no wonder the intestinal flora in your gut could do with a bit of help. The probiotic Entiro (TM) can be used when taking antibiotics, or as a daily probiotic supplement. Probiotics have been shown to be beneficial in a wide range of conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome and travellers’ diarrhoea.

Colds and flu

Few things can spoil a holiday quite as much as a nasty cold or a bout of flu.

Everyone else is having fun, and you’re hiding in your room with a runny nose and a nasty cough.

Luckily there is something you can do to help prevent this: Airmune Effervescent Tablets can help to support your immune system with the necessary vitamins, minerals, herbal extracts and amino acids when it is fighting off a cold or flu.

This is a painful form of arthritis that can sometimes flare up when you have been eating certain foods.

Watch your diet, and avoid foods with a high purine content (such as certain types of fish), and steer clear of alcohol. Also ask your doctor to recommend effective medication to combat or manage a gout attack.

There are few things that put quite such a dampener on a holiday as this.

A lack of energy

Holidays are about relaxing, but also about getting out and about, and doing the things you usually don’t have time for.

The last thing you need is to miss out on everything, because you are feeling tired. Make sure you pack some of Cipla’s Ciplaton tablets, syrup, or effervescent tablets, which all contain the vitamins and minerals necessary to enhance your energy levels.

If you have children, it might be an idea to pack some of the following things, especially if you are going to be far away from a pharmacy or a doctor:

· Thermometers. You might need to test a child’s temperature. Try the sticky-strip forehead thermometers or the digital ear thermometers.

· Antiseptic solution. These can stop broken skin, stings and bites from becoming infected.

· Plasters. Take a few different types – you don’t know what you will be needing.

· Painkillers. Before you go, speak to the pharmacist or doctor about painkillers suitable for children.

· Rehydration solution. These are invaluable to combat dehydration brought on by sickness or diarrhoea.
