IT was that time of the year when East Coast Radio hosted its Big Walk recently. All shapes and sizes, young and old graced the event. Thousands of walkers walked the 5 km, 10 km and 20 km. While the 9 km fun run was introduced this year for the runners.

Falcons’ Celiwe Ndaba was in good form and led the 20 km walkers for the club. She completed the 20 km in a time of 2:48. She was followed by Veeran Ramnarayan and Ivan Moodley. The gents took on the 20 km walk with great success to finish 2:57. Both the gents were elated as they are normally runners. Vitasha Ramnarayan, Rakash Gayadin, Joyce Moonsamy, Dolly Gajadhur, Harshada Fakir, Maureen Gordon and Savy Govender were the other 20 km Big Walk finishers.

80-years-old and going strong was Jay Fakir. She completed the 10 km walk in 1:38 to be the first Falcons 10 km walker home. Fakir was delighted as she bettered her 2017 time by 1 minute. Juniors Yasteel Gayadin and Nikhil Ramnarayan completed the 10 km walk.
